Differences between arteries and veins

They carry similar structures, both fulfill a primary function that is to transport blood throughout the body and in general terms, both terms, artery and vein, could be the same. But there is a key difference in the definitions of both terms based on a very specific function of the veins and arteries. The veins

Veins are a set of blood vessels responsible for transporting blood from each extremity of our body to the heart. These run through every corner of the human physiognomy in the opposite direction of the arteries, whose function we will explain later. The veins are responsible for transporting all those metabolic waste to be expelled, deoxygenated blood to be oxygenated again in the lungs. The arteries carry this waste-laden blood from the peripheral capillaries and all organs to the heart, to then be cleaned and pumped back through the arteries. The arteries

For their part, the arteries are blood vessels that are responsible for carrying oxygenated blood from the heart to all organs and capillaries throughout the body. But there are some exceptions, the pulmonary arteries carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs. And the pulmonary veins are responsible for transporting oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart, which will be pumped by the rest of the organs in the body. Difference of veins and arteries

Basically, the greatest difference between arteries and veins is specified in the specific function that each of them fulfill. The veins carry deoxygenated blood and impurities from the body to the heart, except pulmonary veins carrying oxygenated blood to the heart. The arteries, on the other hand, carry oxygenated blood from the heart to the whole body , except for the pulmonary arteries that carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
